Donald Brader VIEW PROFILE

Donald W. “Skip” Brader, Jr., 47, of Westfield died on Saturday, May 27, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Summit, he resided in Westfield his entire life. Mr. Brader was the president and owner of Brader Engineering in Westfield for the last 15 years. For the last five years, he also was the owner and president of Terrapin Devices in Westfield. He specialized in designing and building electronic devices for the boating industry. Most recently, he worked for Electronic Devices and Controls in Parsippany as an electronic engineer. A 1977 graduate of Westfield High School, he attended Union County College and Northeastern University. Mr. Brader was the founder of the organization BIG (Brightwood Improvement Group), the main function of which was to improve Brightwood Park in Westfield. He was predeceased by his father, Donald W. Brader, Sr. Surviving are his mother, Frances Brown Brader, and three sisters, Margaret J. Brader of Westfield, Mary C. Brader of Michigan and Dr. Donna B. Harkness of Massachusetts. Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, June 1, at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
